Your lips take up a sizable portion of your lower face. They are as important as your eyes and nose, however just applying a coat of lipstick or lip gloss won’t work. If you are looking to enhance the features of your face and aiming to bring the looks of your lips out then it is a good idea to follow these simple yet very effective tips that guide you though applying lip makeup effectively. When applying your lip makeup, you'll want to do so after you've put on foundation and powder for your face if you choose to wear that. Whenever you decide to wear lipstick, you should really use lip liner. The reason for this is because lip liner will keep the lipstick in place, and not allow it to "bleed" off the edges of your lips, which always makes people look like their lipstick has smudged and is not very attractive. The first step to applying lip makeup then, is to select a lip liner in a shade that either matches your lipstick shade exactly so it's not noticeable, or a shade darker if you are trying to make your lips look fuller than they are. How you apply the lip liner will depend on what you would like to do for defining your lips. Applying Lip Liner If you like your lips as they are (good for you!) then just line your lips lightly along your natural lip line, starting in the center of the "V" of your top lip, and going out to the outer edges and using feathery strokes rather than one long line. It helps create a more natural appearance and avoids a clown appearance! If you want to make your lips look fuller than they are, as many women do, you will use your lip liner just barely outside your natural lip line. This helps them look larger. If you think your lips are full enough, and would like to diminish their appearance a little, you can do that by using your lip liner on the inside of your natural lip line. If you want to make the color of your lipstick a deeper shade, you can then use your lip liner to fill in the rest of your lips before using your lipstick. Applying Lipstick Once your lip liner is in place, fill in your lips using your lipstick. It's a lot like coloring- you line your image and then fill it in, being careful not to go outside the lines! If you want to create a pouty look, you can then use an eye shadow or lighter shade of lipstick just in the center of your bottom lip. It will create a highlight or spotlight effect that gives a pouty, sexy appearance. Lipsticks come in a variety of different finishes- including matte, glossy and frosted. The specific finish of lipstick you choose is based on personal preference, but it's important to note that the same shade of color might look different depending on the type of "finish" you select. As you can see that bring out those luscious lips on your face is not difficult. Add that to the fact that they enhance the features of your face and hide the minor defects that may naturally exist. The only thing you need to experiment with is lip color, this should not be very difficult though, however some trial and error should take you where you want.
