Binge Drinking: How to Stop It

By: Lyta Humphris

Put simply, binge drinking means drinking just to get drunk--an unrestrained and self-destructive drinking bout.
A seriously intoxicated individual engaging in an episode of binge drinking will shirk obligations, waste money, and take part in many other types of harmful activities, which may potentially bring him or her into contact with emergency services or police.
The tolerance level of binge drinking varies from country to country, but it has become a problem in many western countries. Binge drinking, in the U.S., means consuming four or more drinks by a female, or five or more drinks by a male, at any time.
The general definition of the term "binge drinking" in the UK is the consumption, on a single occasion, of more than ten drinks. This is more than twice what's considered binge drinking in the U.S., but binge drinking in the U.K. is so severe now that the British Government is ready to take further measures to defeat the problem.
What is the Issue?
Binge drinking is simply irresponsible, heavy drinking which frequently is disguised as mere fun and games. The dangers of binge drinking not only affects the drinker, but also to all the people involved with the drinker.
Risks to the binge drinker include:

Damaging property, Not using protection when having sex, Engaging in unplanned sexual activity, Getting hurt or injured
Risks to people around binge drinkers:
Being insulted or humiliated, Being pushed, hit or assaulted, Experiencing an unwanted sexual advances or assault, Having leisure time or sleep interrupted, Having a serious argument
Why do people do it?:
Culture of alcohol consumption, Peer pressure, To get drunk, Stress
Do you have a binge-drinking problem? Do you recognise any of these harmful and destructive behaviours in your own life:
Are you drinking to get drunk, Are you drinking more heavily and more often?, Is your drinking affecting your work or upsetting your partner or family?
What exactly are your options?
Hypnothereapy and NLP is usually an effective solution to the problem. We are all likely to be mis-programmed via negative input in some ways; neuro-linguistic programming will reprogram one's mind for more positive results. Since hypnotherapy alters the state of a person's mind so that they are able to accept NLP re-programming more easily, NLP and hypnotherapy are a highly effective combined treatment.
Using Hypnotherapy and NLP can help your attitude become more positive in a matter of hours. You may stop binge drinking with the re-programming of your brain; you may have a trained hypnotherapist do this, or do it on your own by means of a self-help download. In either case the result is identical - changing your habitual self-destructive "drink for the purpose of becoming intoxicated" habits to pleasurable "have a few drinks and a good time" ones.
It's a matter of self-control, and there are neuro-linguistic and hypnotherapy techniques that create a sequence of thinking that get the brain to move from the
thought of drinking to excess to the thought of just having a moderate amount of drinks and enjoying yourself.
