Family Room Home Theater Ideas

By: fcheshire

Your home theater room shouldn't be designed like you would set up a ordinary den, for you see it has special needs if you plan on getting the ultimate experience from each screaming car chase you view and hear on your TV screen. Did you know that there are a few simple things you can do right now to make the most of the audio and video of of your DVD’s you are watching? The more of these that you can implement... the bigger the quality of the audio and video of your current system.

Number one: Try to emulate the way a real movie theater is designed. What do I mean? If you recall, all theater seats point toward the projector screen. There are no caddy corner or angled seats in a movie theater, are there? Can you reorganize your sofas and recliners to give you a direct view of the TV?

Number two: Are your current speakers on the floor? Did you know that the floor and carpeting will stifle the quality of sound from your speakers. You would not believe how many people still leave their speakers on the floors! What can you do instead? Use speaker brackets or put them on a bookshelf. Speakers should optimally be placed about a few feet above your head. Just trying this one thing will make a huge difference.

Number Three: Try to keep the front left and right speakers proportionally arranged on either side of your Sony Bravia. The center channel speakers should be set up either above or below your LCD. What about the rear speakers? The rear channel speakers should always be placed in the rear of your love seats whether on the walls or in the ceiling. Do you have hard wood floors? Carpeting will add to the quality of your sound as well.

Number 4: Lighting. Think about this, the more light in the room… the more your video picture quality will be effected. So what can you do? You will need to be able to control all of the lighting inside your room. So first shut off all lamps while watching your movie. Some remote controls can even close the lights automatically when the movie starts. Can you imagine that!
What can you do with exterior sunlight? Try using room darkening shades or heavy curtains that can be used to be closed over the windows as your latest DVD is played. Here is the thing you need to remember, the darker the room the better. Some families even keep a flashlight handy to use for the bathroom breaks!

I told you that you don't have to spend a bunch of dough to get a better experience from your current surround sound set up.
Why not try some of these home theater room suggestions the next time your family sits down to watch a movie? I believe you will notice a huge change in your home theater experience.
