What Is Making Us Become So Fat?

By: Farida Riyasat

It's a worldwide epidemic! People just keep getting bigger and bigger! Obesity has been spreading like an epidemic in countries like China, Japan, and even Korea, where it was never considered a worrysome issue before. No one seems to be immune to the ever increasing waistline. Is the human race destined to be fat? If not, what is causing this phenomenon? The truth is in just two words: poor nutrition. We are not taking enough care of our nutrition ,actually, severely lacking in caring about our eating patterns ,food preferences and quantity of food intake. There are many reasons why weight is becoming a major problem including the increase in fast food restaurants, the increase in portion sizes and the increase in processed, sugary foods. An answer does exist, though it can only be found by learning about proper nutrition.
People are so obsessed with food and how food tastes now, and even how much they get of it, that they seem to forget that food is simply fuel for the body. We get the energy needed to get through the day from food. We develop fat when we give our body too much fuel. When we gain weight, it is not our body getting revenge, it's just the way our body is designed to work. Aside from preventing starvation, fat basically provides heat to our body and insulation to our bones, internal organs and even to our muscles. Eating exorbitantly without following a daily exercise regime, causes our body to turn excess calories in to fat. With so much food we consume nowadays, our fat is increasing at a quickening pace.
To acheive overall balance and good health, proper nutrition is a must. You can still eat your favorite meals, snacks and sweets. To avoid getting overweight you will need to balance these carefully. It is important that your diet contain enough fruits, vegetables, lean meats and nutrition supplements. You can reward yourself with treats and desserts after you have done very well with your nutrition through the week. When it comes to a healthy weight remember as long as you exercise enough to burn off extra calories you can splurge once or twice a week.
Are You Overweight?
When you are overweight, proper nutrition and exercise can help you lose that weight.
For those who already eat a balanced diet, try eating smaller meals more often. (for example, eating six small snacks/meals each day) and get at least a half an hour of exercise 3-5 times a week, and you'll lose weight before you know it! Unfortunately, there is no silver bullet for weight loss. You have to work at it. In the commercial and informecial shows they are all panting and sweating till they die,but here there is no need to do the same. If your nutrition is balanced, you can burn enough calories to lose weight with just a few walks around the block each day.
