Have you ever had a plain piece of grilled chicken without anything added to it? No butter, no salt, no cheese, no sauce, nothing. Just the thought if it probably brings to mind bland, dry diet food. Diet equals no flavor, right? Whether you are on a diet and trying to lose weight or you just love food, seasonings are a must for a good meal. If you love seasoned food a lot more than unseasoned food, I have some great news for you. Food seasoned with fresh herbs can taste that much better than dried herbs. Fresh food is always better. It tastes better and it is better for you. The same goes for fresh herbs. Fresh herbs are so flexible as well as delicious. You can put them into salads such as a tomato basil salad. Chopped basil mixed with cherry tomatoes, cubes of mozzarella cheese, and drizzled olive oil is a delectable start to any meal. You can use them in appetizers, main dishes, and side dishes. Add a kick to your sauces, bread crumbs, gravies, and meats. You can also use herbs as garnish for your dishes to make them look more appealing, creative, and professional. Herbs are loaded with flavor more so than other fruits and vegetables. If you take a bite out of a head of broccoli and than a bite out of a bunch of parsley, you will notice how much more flavor the parsley has. Broccoli is not lacking flavor, it's just that parsley is extra loaded with flavor, which is why it is used as an herb. Why should you grow your own herbs? You should grow your own because having fresh herb plants growing right beside you is the best way to get the freshest herbs possible. You can by fresh picked herbs at the store, but they still won't be as fresh as the herbs you picked just a few minutes ago from your garden. Another benefit is that you can grow your herbs organic without a huge marked up price. Herbs can be expensive and growing them yourself is both cheaper and guaranteed organic if you choose to grow them that way. Growing herbs is not difficult. It does take a small time commitment, but you will be glad to take it when you begin to bring in lots of fresh herbs and enjoy them in all your favorite foods.
