Nowadays we have pesticides and herbicides in our fruits and vegetables, heavy metal in our fish, antibiotics and growth hormones in our meat products and additives, preservatives and artificial coloring in our processed foods and drinks. Scientist believe that degenerative diseases (exist after industrialization) can be attributed to the chemicals and carcinogens found in our water, air and food. Water is the best defense against toxicity in the body because it flushes out toxic waste and surely it has to be healthy water, otherwise it only adds to the problems.
Juicing for Youngsters
By :
Roberto Garabell
Most youngsters are born with a fairly sweet tooth but this can easily be catered for with fruit and vegetable juices instead of sugary drinks which can form a habit for life! Sugar in it's simple granular form is not such a great idea to eat really, like anything in small amounts it's OK, but look on the side of food packets, we've got to the stage that sugar is in almost everything! It's part of the reason that some foods are addictive and moreish. Great if you are the manufacturer, not so good if you are a consumer.

By :

As L-Carnitine is required to transport fat into the mitochondria for breakdown into fuel, without sufficient L-Carnitine, the heart muscle will be weak and drained of energy. By accelerating fat burning for energy, L-Carnitine also prevents the build up of fat in this vital organ. Apart from improving oxygenation of the heart muscle, L-Carnitine, with its antioxidant properties protects the heart muscle and increases its strength.

Measuring Glycemic Index of Your Food
By :
Bogumil Gizewski
Before the discovery of glycemic index (GI) it was thought that determining which carbohydrates are good for you was simple. People believed that complex carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, rice, and potatoes were converted into glucose at a much slower speed then simple carbohydrates such as candy, cake, cookies, and ice cream. However, the more we learn about GI over time, the more we come to the conclusion that the simple vs. complex carbohydrates theory isn’t quite true. There are six main elements that determine the GI levels of a food.

Men Become Fragile With Age, Minerals Can Help
By :

With new bone material constantly replacing the old, more bone is produced than removed during childhood, which lets the skeleton grow. Bone mass peaks for most people during their 30s, with the processing reversing itself afterwards. The amount of bone slowly begins to decline as the removal of old exceeds the formation of new. Because female hormone production drops rapidly at menopause, this condition is immediately associated with increased bone loss. Hormonal changes in men occur much more slowly, with testosterone levels declining about 1% each year after the age of 40, remaining unnoticeable until after age 60.
Mixing it Up: Food and Drinks That Go Well With Cigars
By :
Garson Smart
First of all, it should be noted that some cigar lovers don't recommend mixing the joys of the table with those of the lighter at all, under any circumstances. There are good arguments to be made on both sides (it makes sense to focus all of one's energies on a rich, demanding taste, but on the other hand, variety is the spice of life), so decide what works for you. Also, of course, keep in mind the preferences of your dinner companions, especially if they are non-smokers, children, foodies, or people with a hyper-sensitive sense of smell.

Organic Versus Natural, How To Tell The Difference!
By :
Willie Jones
First of all people can get confused with, All Natural, and Organic. The USDA’s National Organic Standards does not regulate the term Natural when it comes to fruits and vegetables, however, the Food Safety and Inspection Services does regulate the term all natural when it comes to meat. When a cut of meat is labeled All Natural, it simply means that it has not been injected to make it juicier or plumper and color and preservatives have not been added and has been minimally processed. It may or may not be organic.

By :
Bardnurz Sham
We need friendly bacteria to remain healthy and vibrant, to enjoy clear, blemish free, complexion, robust digestive function, stronger body resistance, and to reduce the risk of colon and breast cancer. There are around 100 trillion bacteria in our intestinal tract itself - that's more than the number of cells in our entire body. Vitamin A, which is important for normal vision, integrity of the skin and those cells lining the inner surfaces of the body, gene expression, reproduction, embryonic development, growth, and immune function, is most commonly found as beta-carotene in a multivitamin. Unless the person supplementing is diabetic, the body can convert beta-carotene into vitamin A as it is needed. Therefore, the risk of vitamin A deficiency is nearly nonexistent, while the daily value for vitamin A is 5,000 IU, although supplementation of up to 25,000 IU of beta-carotene is safe and effective.
Salads, Dressing, Spices And Deserts In A Raw Food Lifestyle
By :
Kevin Gianni
Nomi: I really think the secret of the salad is the dressing. I remember when I worked at Hippocrates, Annamarie Clements was speaking and she told us about a young girl who was very ill and was really having a hard time. They don’t just eat salads; they have a ton of sprouts in them. She said to Annamarie, if only her favorite dressing could be in it she’d be able to eat it better. They went out and bought it for here. It wasn’t even that healthy a thing. It helped to get it down. So it’s terribly important that it taste well.

Now let us say you want to maybe have the small success that I have had, or maybe you are looking to just feel better and be more energized. Either way there are a few things that you can do to help make your goal. One of the smartest things that you can do is to go out there and find some great deals on vitamins. I personally take about 16 pills a day. Between my flaxseed and fish oil and God knows how many others it tends to be a mouthful every morning and right before I go to bed. But I will let you know that my energy level has increased dramatically which in turn speeds up the metabolism slightly.
